About Mama Clementina Foundation Schools

Historical Background of MCF:
Mama Clementina Foundation (MCF) is a Charitable Trust since May 1988. This local non-profit organization is dedicated to educate young women and girls. The vision is to realize an enlightened women population in Tanzania. MCF offers a high standard of academic and vocational training like cooking or tailoring and also aims to strengthen its students self-confidence and character.
Philosophy of MCF is to cover its running costs by tuition and hostel fees. MCF nevertheless differs significantly from other private schools because it takes care of especially the under-privileged, to enable them to have a new beginning and meaningful future. The educational concept is based on the active inclusion of students with personal, social or financial problems.
The Chairperson and Foundress of MCF is Mama Maria Kamm, the vice chairman was Mr George Kamm (the husband of Mama Kamm who passed away on 15th of November 2023), and the other members of the board of Trustees are their children, some friends, and since 2020 some Consolata missionaries.
Mama Maria Kamm was raised by Consolata Missionaries since she was only 3 months old. The Consolata sister by the name of Sr. Clementina (famous as Mama Clementina) was the one who, with other Consolata missionaries (priests, sisters and brothers), raised Mama Maria Kamm. That is why she was inspired very much by Mama Clementina, to the point of founding an organization in honour of her name.

MCF schools are located in Moshi and Makambako and now together with the Consolata missionaries, have opened new school at Mgongo, in Iringa. In Moshi, as the Headquarters of MCF, there are a Lodge and schools in all levels: Little Clementine (LC – Nursery School), Paradise Primary Academy (PPA) and Kilimanjaro Academy (KA – Secondar ). The system of the Education offered is NECTA – VETA.

The Presence of the Consolata Missionaries in MCF:
Following the request of Mama Kamm, whose intention was to leave the MCF Schools under the IMC (Institute of Consolata Missionaries in Tanzania), the IMC decided to send a missionary to work with MCF. Fr. Yohana Kalist was sent to Moshi, in the year 2020. In the beginning he worked as a Director of the schools, and also he helped in spiritual matters.
Mama Kamm made another request for Chaplaincy, and Fr. Emmanuel Chacha was sent as a Chaplain of MCF since October 2022. The IMC’s intention is also to have a pastoral work in Moshi Diocese (from where a good number of IMC missionaries come).

The Chaplaincy and Pastoral service in Moshi:
 In MCF, the Chaplain celebrates the Mass on Sundays and in other special occasions of the Foundation and Schools, indicated in the annual program of MCF, and also during some important MCF occasions which do not appear in the program. He organizes spiritual seminars, retreats, novenas, catechetical classes for students, counseling, confessions and liturgical matters in general.
 In Korongoni Parish, the pastoral service offered is the following: celebration of Sunday or weakly Mass in Korongoni or Soweto (at 6:15 or 6:30 a.m.), biblical seminars, confessions, and whatever the Parish requests as far as the spiritual and pastoral matters are concerned.
